Steph McGovern pregnant: Alex Jones reveals BBC star's getting some 'baby practise in'

Steph McGovern, 37, announced she is expecting a bundle of joy with her girlfriend back in July and her due date is fast approaching.

Before her baby arrives, Steph had a little visit to her Shop Well For Less? co-star, Alex Jones, who is currently on maternity leave looking after her son Kit.

The One Show host gave birth in May, her second child with her husband Charlie Thomson, who also have a son named Teddy, two.

Alex shared an adorable picture of Steph holding Kit to her Instagram page, where the BBC Breakfast star looked completely enamoured.

Steph beamed away as she gazed down at little Kit, whilst rocking him perched on a comfy-looking arm chair.

Alex wrote on the cute photo: “Aunty Steph came over to get some practise in.”

Steph has been open about her pregnancy and at the beginning revealed she had a “rough start”.

Talking to her co-stars Jon Kay and Sally Nugent, Steph spoke about her journey so far and said: “I’m good thank you, bit of a rough start but I’m alright now thank you.”

The business reporter, who is due to give birth in November, then reflected on a time she nearly vomited all over her co-star, Charlie Stayt.

“Charlie nearly got watermelon over him one morning,” she laughed.

Meanwhile, Steph has been writing about her outrage at how children are judged on their school grades alone when it comes to their intellect.

The BBC favourite had a rant on Twitter at the beginning of the week as she moaned about the education system in the UK.

Steph added it made her “blood boil” as she praised teachers, saying they do much more than simply teaching children.

“For these teachers it’s not all about grades, they provide so much more, but yet grades is what our education system judges them on,” she said. “It makes my blood boil.”

Steph continued: “As for the students, they have so many things to deal with it can make academic life hard. Yet from my experience they have so many skills they don’t recognise as skills.

“They’re often entrepreneurial, resilient + understand budgeting. But they’re not judged on that. Just grades.”

Steph said she “hates” the fact people will be judged on their grades alone.

“Some of these students will manage to do well academically and that is great,” she said.

“For those who don’t, many of them will write themselves off as being ‘not very clever’ and I HATE THAT because cleverness is not about grades. Well I don’t think it is anyway. Not from my experience.”

The mum-to-be appeared to want a huge shake-up in the education system as she explained she wants to ensure children have a “chance”.

BBC Breakfast airs on BBC One from 6am.
