Will June and Nick reunite in The Handmaid’s Tale season 4?

Although the writers are still very much working on the story, it seems highly likely they will get back together.

When asked what was next for Nick, star Minghella teased: “I don’t. I’m really excited to go back, and I know that the direction of the show is going to shift.

“This season was a catalyst for a lot of exciting stuff, so I think we’re all excited about what next season’s going to look like. They’ve never let us down.

“The writers do an extraordinary job of always surprising us. It’s a very weird feeling to get scripts and genuinely be like, ‘Wait, what’s going to happen next?’”

He added to Harper’s Bazaar: “Season four’s going to be really exciting, and I think it’s going to be different.”

Minghella’s words suggest that revolution could well be coming to Gilead in a much bigger way than it has so far.

The result of June’s plan to steal all the children from Gilead is going to have huge ramifications on the rebellion as the totalitarian regime and its ugly brutality is exposed.

Season four is likely to see more of Nick with audiences finding out what he’s been doing while supposedly in Chicago.

His loyalties towards June and Gilead will be very much divided and if nothing else we could find the pair at odds with each other.

However, Minghella seemed hopeful for his character and the Handmaid’s romance and was rooting for the couple.

“Lizzie and I really enjoy working together, and we enjoy the romance between these characters,” he explained.

Going on to say: “I look forward to doing those scenes, and it plays into our taste as audience members too. I like that I’m a part of the romantic narrative in the show.

“It’s probably the least intellectual aspect of the show, and that makes sense because I’m not a very intellectual person!”

Saying this, he admitted their romance was a complex one given her marriage with Luke Bankole (O. T. Fagbenle).

Minghella conceded: “I think Nick’s very in love with her, so I’m sure he’s really hoping it works out.

“But she was also married to a wonderful person who loves her very much and has a child with that person, so it’s very complicated.”
