Lucy Verasamy: ITV weather presenter admits job has 'hugely' affected her life

Lucy Verasamy, 39, is a key member of the ITV presenting team, regularly delivering the weather forecasts for Good Morning Britain, ITV News and ITV Racing. In a recently interview, the meteorologist spoke out about her career and was asked how being in the industry had affected her life. “Hugely – too many ways to describe,” she replied. Revealing her favourite part of the job, she went on: “Each day is rarely the same working in weather and in a newsroom.

“It certainly keeps us on our toes,” she added.

Lucy also explained how she ended up as a weather forecaster, telling The Sports Edit: “The simplest answer is – I did a week’s work experience at a private weather company that’s now the biggest in Europe, and never left…”

Elsewhere, the ITV weather star said she is currently renovating a flat.

“But I’m not sure that I’m a natural,” she quipped, giving fans a rare insight into her personal life aways from the cameras.

Lucy got started at the Press Association’s weather centre and later moved to Sky.

She subsequently left Sky for ITV in 2010.

The presenter previously spoke out about her career during an interview with BFBS Radio’s Sim Courtie back in 2009.

“I did a degree in geography and earth sciences at university and I really liked the meteorological element of that,” she said. “So, I didn’t do pure meteorology.

“After university, I did some work experience at the Press Association and they had a weather department.

“I sort of got trained in-house, worked there for a few years and later I ended up at Sky News,” she added.

The brunette beauty grew up in Norfolk with three brothers.

She enjoys exercise and frequently shares workout snaps with her keen social media followers.

Earlier this summer, Lucy got away from it all on a trip to Switzerland.

In the mountains, she snapped several stunning pics, with one showing her posing atop a rock with a breathtaking mountain view behind her.

Putting her slender pins on full display, she weather presenter could be seen wearing a pair of tiny shorts and a sleeveless top, shielding her eyes from the sun beneath a baseball cap.

On another mountain hike, she once again posed for her 107,000 Instagram followers, saying: “Swiss mountain views during Europe’s record breaking heatwave – baking hot (even at over 3000m at 10am) so the glacier ice was like walking on a slush puppy.”
