Gemma Atkinson Instagram: Actress asks for help after 'note from doctor' about baby Mia

Gemma Atkinson told herself to “stop being such a wet” after being summoned to the doctors with her newborn daughter, Mia. The actress revealed how she had roped in her mother, as her boyfriend Gorka Marquez would not be able to assist due to Strictly Come Dancing commitments. The 34-year-old was told her baby girl was due a number of injections, after welcoming her into the world in July. She shared her upset in an Instagram story in view of her 1.2 million followers, saying she has “to be cruel to be kind”.

“I’ve had a note from the doctor’s to say Mia is due her injections next week,” Gemma started.

She continued: “Obviously she’s got to have a few, but the first load are due next week… I know she has to have them, I want her to have them, but it’s on a weekday so Gorka is going to be in London.

“I’ve had to ask my mum to come with me because I can’t sit there while someone inflicts pain on her.”

Flashing a troubled expression at the camera, Gemma then stated: “You’ve got to be cruel to be kind, I need to sort myself out and stop being such a wet about it.”

The author then added: “Christ, it’s injections, she’s going to have them all through her life.

“It’s going to really hurt her and apparently it can make them quite sick afterwards – don’t know if that’s true.”

Gemma regularly gives updates on life as a mum on the picture-sharing app, giving a glimpse at Mia and beau Gorka.

The young family live in Manchester, however the latter will be spending a lot of time in London as Strictly Come Dancing 2019 kicks off on Saturday night.

Although things might not be as busy as last year as the Spanish dancer will not be performing with a celebrity.

He previously posted online: “For everybody that’s been asking, I can let you know that this series, I sadly won’t be partnered with a celebrity for the main series of Strictly.

“However, I will still be heavily involved in all of the group numbers and all things Strictly!”

Gorka also wrote: “I’m excited to see this year’s celebs and my fellow professionals dance for the Glitter Ball and I hope to be back fighting for it next year.

“As always, it’s gonna be a GREAT series.”

He met Gemma thanks to the programme back in 2017, which saw her reach the final with Aljaž Skorjanec.

The father-of-one has worked with Tameka Empson, Alexandra Burke and Katie Piper since joining for series 14.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 launches on Saturday at 7.10pm on BBC One.
