Just no. MS has never had the console crown. They did well when no one was there to oppose them for 1 to 1 1/2 years. But they got caught and lost to Nintendo and Sony. What crown? What win? They never won. Anyway…
Game Pass is a double edge sword. It draws gamers to the games for cheap but not the console or actually to buy the games. Also, they’re helping Valve’s brand and Nintendo’s brand by putting their games there as well.
A lot of the things on the list do make sense on why MS is flailing around trying to get their footing. But mobile phone failure and windows 8 have nothing to do with Xbox or console gaming.
Blu-ray was correct as Sony predicted that game size would get bigger and need a medium to hold it like CD and DVD did for PS1and PS2. Which is why they waited. HD DVD was only used to slow Sony down and waste Xbox gamer dollars because MS never believed in physical discs anyway and were all about pushing digital. MS then pushed Ultra Blu-ray as a talking point this Gen. But it’s a nothing burger as games aren’t taking advantage of it. We won’t really need a larger medium until next Gen. It shows how Sony is in touch as it applies to games. And MS thought gamers cared for better looking movies on a gaming platform.
MS has the potential to save their brand with the moves they made before next Gen. But taking the crown when they can’t even sell worldwide like Sony and Nintendo is unlikely. They’re lucky there’s still fans left. Only scenario they got to help is if tariffs hurt the sales of PS5 if things get worse because of Chump. And they get more sales in America. But, like PS3, Sony still might end up outselling them at a higher tariff price because of the games potential. We’ll just have to see.
