Apex Legends Wraith Event start news and new Voidwalker update

The new Apex Legends Wraith Event has a start time confirmed for September 3, 2019.

This means that everyone on PS4, Xbox One and PC can expect a big Apex update to land in the next 24-hours.

We don’t have a set start time for the new Wraith Event – named Voidwalker by Respawn Entertainment – but we can give a solid prediction.

Like other launch events for Apex Legends, Respawn is likely to time it for release before peak playing hours in the United States.

So the Wraith Event will probably have gone live 7pm, BST, in the UK, unless stated otherwise by the dev team.

More news regarding the big event could be shared in the coming hours, giving us a better understanding of the launch schedule.

A new update is expected to be launched as part of the Voidwalker Event, meaning a new patch to download.

Respawn says that each season, a certain number of different events will be launched, with Voidwalker classed a “Themed Event”.

“These events will generally occur during a season and bring with them a limited-time mode, event challenges that let players earn cosmetics, and a mix of event limited and evergreen cosmetics available for direct purchase,” a message from Respawn explains.

“These events may also include a town takeover or small map change, and potential extensions to Apex Legends lore. Legendary Hunt was an example of a Themed Event, with the next one coming early September focused on a certain Phase Expert.”

Here is what’s included in the Voidwalker Themed Event:

Wraith town takeover

  • Limited-time mode – Armed and Dangerous
  • Exclusive event challenges
  • Direct Purchase Shop
  • Double XP for Top 5 and Wins Weekend

The Wraith Event will run until September 17 and will allow gamers to collect new bonuses and earn XP. A breakdown of these changes can be found below in early patch notes shared by Respawn:

Wraith Town Takeover

Syndicate construction crews have unearthed part of a decayed Project: Wraith facility in Kings Canyon. Jump in to discover for yourself the mysterious remains of the research site, including a functional prototype portal that can be used to get an early jump on the base – or to escape and reinitiate skydive. And be sure to keep an eye out for other hidden lore details.

Limited-Time Mode: Armed and Dangerous

In the same spirit of Wraith’s escape, we’re introducing a brand new LTM, Armed and Dangerous, where weapons are limited to snipers and shotguns while overall loot is much harder to come by.

As with previous modes, keep on the lookout for in-game surveys and let us know your feedback. We’re planning to roll out more of these modes in the future.

Event Challenges with Free Loot

Complete a variety of challenges to earn exclusive skins and Wraith-themed content. All challenges and rewards will be limited to the two-week event.
