Stacey Dooley gives exciting update on Kevin Clifton romance as she ‘walks into’ love chat

Stacey Dooley was put on the spot about her romance with Kevin Clifton as Angela Scanlon sat in for Dermot O’Leary on BBC Radio 2. The Strictly Come Dancing winner was told she had “walked into” talking about the professional dancer, 36, by the host, 35. The 32-year-old branded her beau “amazing” and said his work was keeping him busy, as he prepares for the launch of the 2019 edition of the BBC show. She said they had performed together last night as they filmed the first show together, after lifting the Glitterball in December.

“Are you sick of talking about it [Strictly]?” Angela had asked her, as she promoted her latest documentary, Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over.

“No, I’m alright actually,” she replied. “And I feel, I was sort off saying earlier, the idea that some people in the country get behind you and they’re, ‘Come on Stace!’”

The host however suggested: “There’s an ownership, isn’t there?”

But Stacey continued: “You’re so, so, sort of… wrapped up really and so supported. And you just fall in love with the general public.”

“And…” The One Show star teased, seemingly hinting at Kevin, and again the journalist went on: “I don’t really have that relationship when I’m doing docs.”

She then realised what she had said and laughed: “Here she is my girl.”

“You walked myself into that one, Dooley,” Angela quipped, as she probed: “How is all that going [with Kevin]?”

Stacey then stated: “Yeah, do you know, it is brilliant and Kevin is amazing. And he’s busy and we danced together last night so…

“It was the pre-record for Strictly, which I think launches next Saturday.”

The pair were first linked romantically earlier this year, following her split from boyfriend Sam Tucknott.

After the latter spoke out about her dating Kevin, she posted: “Anyone with any adult life experience knows there are 2 sides to every story. I haven’t got the time or energy to correct some of the utter nonsense I’ve read on here.

“Re Sam, I loved him v much and only wish him happiness and success going forward.”(sic)

Meanwhile, it comes just hours after Kevin Clifton couldn’t hide his happiness as Stacey stepped back into the Strictly studio.

In view of her 730,000 followers, she panned the camera around the dance floor as the pros showcased their moves.

Walking ahead of the presenter was her partner, before he turned to face the camera with a big grin on his face.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 launches on September 7 on BBC One.
