EE finally rivals Vodafone and Three Mobile as customers treated to the ultimate upgrade

It’s been a long time coming but EE has finally announced the launch of fully unlimited data plans for its millions of customers.

This means those using this popular network can now eat through as many downloads or stream as much music or video as they like without ever being charged any extra.

With many consumers now using their smartphones to view hours of content on the move this is a welcomed addition but some of EE’s rivals have been offering unlimited data for a while.

Three Mobile and Vodafone already have these all-you-can-eat plans but how do they all compare?

Here’s Express.co.uk’s guide to unlimited data.

EE UNLIMITED DATA

PRICE •  From £34 per month

UNLIMITED 4G AND 5G? • Yes

FULL DETAILS • EE has just announced the launch of its unlimited data plans which are available on both SIM-only and contract.

The new service is available now with 4G and 5G customers both able to take advantage.

If you are a 4G user then the cheapest unlimited option is for those who own their phone and simply need a SIM with prices starting from £34 per month which comes with two Swappable benefits.

Those wanting a new device on contract can expect to pay from £64 per month for unlimited data.

If it’s 5G you want then expect to pay £44 per month SIM-only or £69 per month on contract.

All EE unlimited 4G and 5G data plan customers get the fastest speeds EE is able to offer and customers can use their plan to tether to other devices.

What’s more, all of EE’s unlimited plans come with a 100GB monthly giftable data allowance, so customers can gift their data to additional lines linked to the account, and this increases to 120GB of giftable data if taking a 5G Smart handset plan.

VODAFONE UNLIMITED

PRICE •  From £23 per month

UNLIMITED 4G AND 5G? • Yes

FULL DETAILS • Vodafone announced the launch of its unlimited plans earlier this year with prices starting from a very reasonable £23 per month.

That price even includes access to 5G speeds if you have a compatible smartphone.

Although £23 may sound like a bit of a bargain there is one big catch as Vodafone limits the downloads speeds on this plan to just 2Mbps.

That’s very slow and won’t be suitable for those wanting to stream video on the move.

There are, however, two extra plans which offer faster speeds at a slightly higher price.

For £26 per month, you’ll get 10Mbps download speeds and for £30 you’ll always get the very best speeds Vodafone can offer.

THREE MOBILE

PRICE •  From £10 per month for the first six months then £20

UNLIMITED 4G AND 5G? • No

FULL DETAILS • Three has been offering unlimited data for a while with its plans offering some of the best value for money.

Right now you can get an unlimited SIM for £10 per month

This offer lasts for six months before rising to £20 for the remaining contract.

It’s worth noting that although Three has launched 5G it’s only currently available to its broadband customers and not on smartphones.

That upgrade is coming later this year and will probably include unlimited downloads so watch this space for updates.
