Blake Shelton And Gwen Stefani Open Up About Reuniting On The Voice

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton already have a near-perfect relationship, but things are about to get sweeter for the couple because now they get to spend even more time together. Stefani is taking Adam Levine’s place on The Voice for Season 17, and no one is happier about it than Shelton.

“I always love having Gwen on the show,” Shelton says in a new Season 17 promo video for The Voice. “She literally makes my day 100 percent better.”

The other two judges this season are Kelly Clarkson and John Legend, and they are both happy to see Stefani return as a coach for the first time since Season 12. Clarkson says she is a Stefani “super fan” who grew up singing No Doubt songs in her room. And, the All of Me singer calls Stefani a “legend.”

The 49-year-old says she feels lucky to be back on the show that introduced her to Shelton, and she can’t wait to get started.

“I’m so happy to be back. My life changed so much on this show,” says Stefani. “I’m so inspired. I haven’t been here for a while, so I’m ready to go. And, then to be with my best friend Blakey, and to be here with Kelly and John. I feel pretty lucky right now.”

The coaches have already started filming the blind auditions, and in the preview clip, it was clear that Stefani was not going to let her relationship with Shelton interfere with her assembling a winning team. After Stefani blocks Shelton from competing for a contestant, Shelton yells, “She put our relationship on the line for you!”

Legend also chimes in, telling the contestant that they are personally responsible for breaking up one of America’s favorite couples.

Stefani says that being around music and seeing so many talented contestants is inspiring, and it is fulfilling to be able to share and look back at her own musical journey. Stefani says that now that she is back, it is her season to win.

The Hollaback Girl admitted in an interview earlier this summer that NBC shocked her when they offered her the chance to return to The Voice, but she “wanted to come back so bad.” Stefani says hanging out with Shelton at work is “going to be great,” and an insider says that Stefani’s return has been “sweet” because The Voice is where she and Shelton fell in love.
