Elon Musk issues terrifying prediction about advanced AI – 'All civilisation will end!'

Billionaire CEO SpaceX Elon Musk made the apocalyptic statement that Artificial Intelligence would wipe out all civilisation while debating Alibaba chairman Jack Ma at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai, China. There was a silver lining to the grim prediction as Mr Musk claimed his firm Neuralink could one day help to level the playing field. The company is working on brain implants that would allow a user to download date from computers.

The SpaceX CEO said: “We are hopelessly inadequate.

“Hopeless in terms of rendering, basically there is a smaller and smaller corner of intellectual pursuits that humans are better than computers.

“Every year it gets smaller and smaller.

“And soon we will be far surpassed in every single way, guaranteed.

“Or all civilisation will end, those are the two possibilities.”

He added: “The biggest mistake I see artificial intelligence researchers making is assuming they’re intelligent.

“They’re not, compared to Artificial Intelligence.

“A lot of them cannot imagine something that is smarter than them but AI will be vastly smarter, vastly.

Mr Musk has long remained critical of the potential dangers of the powers of Artificial Intelligence.

Elon Musk is one of the most prominent names and faces in the tech and developing technology industry.

While using A.I technology within his three companies, SpaceX, Tesla and the Boring company he is vocal on the potential dangers.

In 2014 he said: If I were to guess like what our biggest existential threat is, it’s probably A.I.”

And predicted that there is a “five to 10 percent chance of success of making AI safe”.
