It Chapter 3: Director teases how a Pennywise spin-off could be next

Next week It: Chapter Two hits cinemas, completing the two-part cinematic adaptation of Stephen King’s iconic horror novel. The first film made a whopping $700 million worldwide on a budget of just $35 million, becoming the highest-grossing horror of all time. But with the story ending in Chapter Two, just how can Warner Bros continue profiting from Pennywise’s popularity? While It: Chapter 3 probably isn’t an option, director of both films Andy Muschietti has revealed how’s there’s plenty of room for spin-offs.

Speaking with iO9, the director said: “There is a whole mythology to the book.

“Mythology is something that always has opportunities to explore.

“It has been on Earth for millions of years. He’s been in contact with humans for hundreds of years, every 27 years.

“So you can imagine the amount of material.”

DIRECTOR ON DIFFERENCES TO STEPHEN KING’S BOOK

The new film was met with mostly praise, highlighting how scary and gruesome It: Chapter Two is.

In particular, Bill Hader’s performance was supposedly a show-stealer.

However, a number of critics felt the movie was way too long at two hours and forty-nine minutes.

It: Chapter Two is released in UK cinemas on September 6, 2019.
