BBC News: Steph McGovern blames her pregnancy 'hormones' after co-host's shock swipe

Steph, 37, was on hand to report the latest goings on in the business world on BBC Breakfast throughout this morning’s show.

Some of the segments entwined with hosts Charlie, 57, and Louise Minchin, 50, looking through the headlines making the papers today.

As the trio of BBC presenters examined what was making the news today, Louise stumbled across one article which related to a caveman diet.

Joking with the presenters, Steph took the opportunity to take a swipe at Charlie, leading her to explain her pregnancy “hormones” were why she did so.

Holding up the paper and showing the article to Charlie and Steph, Louise said: “Should we talk about the caveman diet?

“Fasting every other day could be the secret to losing weight because it mimics humans’ caveman diet according to a new study,” the presenter explained.

Louise added: “They do warn it’s not suitable for everyone and further studies are needed,” with Charlie going on to discuss the subject.

“I remember from those caveman films,” Charlie began, stating: “What we used to do in those days, you’d just gorge.

“When there was food you’d just massively gorge don’t you because you may not get any food for a period time of after that, which is not good,” he concluded.

Joking with Charlie by trying to offering a compliment which turned into a swipe: “Clearly worked for you Mr Caveman.”

“I just thought ‘Well I have to make up for lack of technical ability with just a lot of energy and enthusiasm’,” Mike began.

“And I just did a dad jump.

“I used to do it at weddings and discos when I was younger,” he continued.

“But I nearly went off the stage, I have to say. The jump was higher than in rehearsal.

“That could have been the end of your Strictly dream!” the reporter exclaimed, before Mike went on to commend the crowd who’d shown up to support the cast.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
