Box office smash Bohemian Rhapsody, the Freddie Mercury biopic, used to be the fastest-selling digital download film of all time. This new record was broken in February with a whopping 265,000 UK downloads in just eight days. However, Avengers Endgame – the highest-grossing movie of all time – has now topped that with 335,400 in its first week in the Official Film Chart, debuting at No 1. Not far behind is the Marvel epic’s predecessor Avengers Infinity War on 253,000 UK downloads during the same period.
Also in the Official Film Chart’s Top 10 for August 10-28 is Hellboy at No 2, followed by Shazam! and Dumbo.
Bohemian Rhapsody may be out of the chart now but still had a very impressive run.
Half-way through the year, the Queen movie became the biggest selling film of 2019 so far.
Since its home release on disc and digital download, the Freddie Mercury biopic has sold just under 1.5 million copies.
