The Grease superstar nearly handed the VMA for Video of the Year to Jade Jolie instead of 29-year-old Taylor Swift, whose video for You Need To Calm Down won the prestigious award. Mr Travolta eventually realised his mistake – giving Ru Paul’s Drag Race star Jade a hug before handing the award over to Taylor. But the actor was savaged on social media over the awkward moment.
On Twitter user wrote: “John Travolta giving Taylor Swift’s award to Jade Jolie FULLY thinking that it was her is the best thing that happened all night.”
Another said: “John Travolta mistaking jade jolie for taylor swift has restored my spirits for the next, 3 hours.”
And a third added: “That’s the best thing to happen at the VMA’s forever – Mr Travolta you are a legend.”
But Travolta also shocked fans for another reason – as he showed up to the event bald.
The 64-year-old first went public with his new look in January – saying it was finally time to ditch the wigs he has been wearing for years and embrace his hair loss.
Is John Travolta still married?
Yes, he is believed to still be married to Kelly Preston – an actress and former model who he met in 1987 while filming The Experts.
Kelly, 56, has starred in more than sixty television and film productions – including Mischief, Twins, and the Cat in a Hat film.
She was married to actor Kevin Gage from 1985 until their divorce in 1987, and is also known to have had a relationship with George Clooney.
She was also briefly engaged to Charlie Sheen in 1990.
The pair married in 1991, travelling to Paris on an Air France Concorde for a wedding ceremony at the Hotel de Crillon on September 5, 1991.

In 2010, for the first episode of the final season of the Oprah Winfrey show, he served as the pilot when she announced she would be taking her entire studio audience on an eight-day, all-expenses-paid trip to Australia.
