OnePlus 7 update: This could be your first look at what’s coming next from OnePlus

OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro launched in May – the latter of which was universally hailed as the Shenzhen-based company’s most premium smartphone yet.

OnePlus typically releases two flagship handsets every year – in 2018 the manufacturer unveiled the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T in May and October respectively.

The company is anticipated to follow such a trend this year, too – in fact tipster Max J. on Twitter has suggested the company could launch its next premium mobile as soon as September 26 in India.

It was stated the hardware would be unveiled in other territories around the world on October 10.

OnePlus is presumed to release at least two new models of its next phone – one that is a direct successor to the standard OnePlus 7 and another that proceeds the 7 Pro.

And it seems alleged renders of the former may have just leaked courtesy of reliable tipster OnLeaks collaborating with Pricebaba.

The device was shown to look very similar to the current OnePlus 7 on its front but touted a new, circular, camera module on its rear.

Three sensors could be seen on the handset’s back panel, suggesting it could present Android fans with a noticeable upgrade over its direct predecessor.

For reference, the standard OnePlus 7 totes a 48-megapixel primary lens that is accompanied by a 5-megapixel depth sensor.

It is possible the new snapper on the alleged OnePlus 7T could deliver telephoto or ultra wide-angle functionality.

OnePlus has always prided itself on delivering rapid performance – for that reason it is expected the firm’s newest smartphones will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 855 Plus chipset.

The American semiconductor firm has declared the 855 Plus boasts a higher clock speed than the standard 855 and should be more competent when a user is performing demanding tasks, such as gaming.

Unfortunately, neither OnLeaks nor Pricebaba discussed a Pro model of the OnePlus 7T.

However, it is assumed the Chinese firm is hard at work on such a product.

OnePlus’ CEO, Pete Lau, recently confirmed to the Financial Times it would release a new 5G handset in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Moreover, the 44-year-old also emphasised all premium phones released next year “have” to be equipped with 5G technology, iterating its importance in the current market.

Lau said: “If you want to be a premium phone in 2020, you have to be equipped with 5G technology.”
