Riverdale had perhaps one of the most dramatic endings to a season this year.
As season three came to a close Penelope Blossom (played by Nathalie Boltt) revealed herself to be behind a number of the crimes held in Riverdale.
However she wasn’t alone, as it was also revealed she had a lot of help from Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro) – otherwise known as the Black Hood.
But he didn’t have too long to celebrate his return, as Penelope went on to shoot the murderer after his job was done.
While this isn’t a great loss for the Cooper family, Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse), and the rest of the gang were entirely stunned by the brazen homicide.
Despite this, fans have now been treated to a spoiler from one of Lochlyn’s social media accounts.
The actor posted an image of the season four episode five script front cover, which has been watermarked with his name.
This usually means the actor in question has a copy of the script because they are involved in the episode.
But with Hal supposedly dead, how will he be returning to the show?
Lochlyn commented on the script cover writing: “Very good script… WOW!!!” leaving fans entirely confused.

The episode – titled Chapter Sixty-Two: WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION teases some sort of courtroom action, and even shows off the cartoon version of Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes).
Does this mean Veronica will be heading some sort of courtroom drama in the upcoming episodes?
One fan commented on the image to theorise: “I just looked at Lochlyn Munro’s Instagram feed and it looks like he was on set for the Halloween episode too. Dream sequence for Betty?
“PERHAPS Betty will be seeing visions of Hal, trying to ‘influence’ her?”
Betty has had some quite serene scenes throughout her time on the show, so seeing figments of her imagination in the form of her serial-killer father is certainly possible.
Either way, it looks like Lochlyn is certainly back for at least one episode, and fans of the show will simply have to wait and see to find out the reason.
Meanwhile Riverdale fans on Reddit have begun theorising what exactly is going to happen with Alice Cooper (Madchen Amick) now that she is out of the farm.
Reddit user GentleCritter proposed: “Something I hope comes up in Season four is the shady man secret, aka: Alice, Betty, Jughead and FP cover up a murder to protect imposter Chic.
“This secret was wielded throughout Season three as something that could land these upstanding folks in hot water… but nothing ever came of it!”
Riverdale season 4 starts October 9 on The CW and October 10 on Netflix.
