Melania Trump is spotted with fellow G7 wives but where is Boris Johnson’s girlfriend?

The leaders’ wives enjoyed a luxury tour of a traditional Basque village in Biarritz and a wine-tasting session. Some pictures from the day showed the glamorous wives posing outside a bakery during a visit to the small village of Espelette, close to the summit. Melania was joined by wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, Brigitte Macron who was spotted wearing a bright coral shift dress.

The First Lady was also seen with the wife of Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, Chile’s First Lady Cecilia Morel, the wife of Australia’s Prime Minister Jenny Morrison and the wife of European Council President Donald Tusk, Malgorzata Tusk.

However, Mr Johnson’s girlfriend, Ms Symonds was missing from the line-up of G7 wives.

Reportedly, Ms Symonds could not attend the event due to work commitments.

After their tour, the wives joined their husbands for dinner as the summit continues, with Brexit being a top priority for the Prime Minister.

US President Donald Trump hailed Mr Johnson today for his “fantastic” trade talks.

Trump also claimed the US wanted to have a confirmed deal in place within the next year.

The pair held discussions on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France with Trump promising that a “huge deal” would happen “quickly” after the UK ditches the “anchor” of Brussels, praising Mr Johnson as the “right man” to deliver Brexit.

Mr Johnson spoke to the media after discussions with the US President, claiming that Trump was ambitious that a deal could be reached in just a year.

He said: “That is certainly a guarantee that we can make.”

He also responded to more scare stories related to possible food shortages in the event of a no deal.

He said: “I think it’s highly unlikely that there will be food shortages of any kind.”

On Saturday, Mr Johnson clashed with Mr Tusk over who would be to blame if Britain were to leave the EU without a deal on October 31.

Mr Johnson told reporters on the way to the summit: “I have made it absolutely clear I don’t want a no-deal Brexit.

“But I say to our friends in the EU if they don’t want a no-deal Brexit then we have got to get rid of the backstop from the treaty.

“If Donald Tusk doesn’t want to go down as ‘Mr no-deal Brexit’ then I hope that point will be borne in mind by him too.”

Mr Johnson also spoke to Mr Tusk about the EU divorce bill which could see Britain giving less than £10billion of the original £39billion former Prime Minister Theresa May agreed to pay if the EU fails to remove the Northern Ireland backstop.

Government lawyers have worked out that the UK is legally only obliged to pay £7billion.

According to a senior Government source, the Prime Minister said it was a “huge mistake” to finalise a divorce bill before a conclusive Brexit deal had been agreed.
