Bournemouth 0-2 Man City LIVE

Aguero (15′), Sterling (43′)

  • Both teams are on four points and remain unbeaten heading into today’s contest, while Man City were the subject of VAR drama with Tottenham last time out.
  • Bournemouth have lost all eight of their Premier League clashes with Man City, who are looking to make up ground on Liverpool after beating Arsenal 3-1 yesterday.
  • Bournemouth XI: Ramsdale, Smith, Mepham, Cook (C), Daniels, Lerma, Ake, Billing, Fraser, King, Wilson.
  • Man City XI: Ederson, Walker, Otamendi, Laporte, Zinchenko, Gundogan, Silva (C), De Bruyne, Bernardo, Sterling, Aguero.

GOAL! Bournemouth 0-2 Man City (Sterling)

43: Raheem Sterling continues his hot-streak in front of goal. Beautifully threaded past from David Silva and Sterling gobbles up the chance in confident fashion. City in cruise control.

38: Chance! Bournemouth so close to the equaliser after Nicolas Otamendi chests the ball into the path of Adam Smith, who forces Ederson into a brilliant save with his head.

35: Sub for Bournemouth – Harry Wilson on for Charlie Daniels.

30: It doesn’t look good for Charlie Daniels here after he crossed the ball, he clearly felt something in his knee.

Stretcher required, let’s hope it’s not too serious. He came back from a knee injury in March, but this one doesn’t look too good.

GOAL! Bournemouth 0-1 Man City (Aguero)

15: Sergio Aguero collects the ball inside the box as Kevin De Bruyne scuffs the ball from Zinchenko’s cross. No missing that one.

12: Yellow card. Another booking for City, as Ederson comes racing out of his goal and clatters Callum Wilson.

10: Yellow card. He got away with it once, but not for a second time. Walker hammers Ake later again, into the book he goes. He’s now being booed by the home crowd.

7: Ooooft! That was close. Raheem Sterling ghosts round the back and cuts the ball back for Bernardo Silva.

The Portuguese magician wraps his foot around the ball, but it takes a knick and goes behind for a corner.

Very similar area and technique to the pearler he netted on the opening day of last season against Arsenal at the Emirates.

4: Kyle Walker is lucky to escape the book for a late challenge on Nathan Ake.

Oleksandr Zinchenko is also receiving treatment after a clash with Adam Smith.

We’re underway

Here we go, can Bournemouth frustrate City?

Last season Riyad Mahrez’s goal was the difference, as the visitors peppered the hosts with 23 attempts.

How many did Bournemouth have that day? Zero.

Kick-off is imminent…

Howe’s tactical plan

It can’t be easy trying to devise a gameplan to stop City, they are the only top six side Bournemouth are yet to beat since arriving in the Premier League in 2015.

Do you sit back and invite pressure knowing they have the players and experience to pick you off? Or do you have a right go at them and risk going behind early?

It looks as though Howe is going to do a mix of both. He has packed the centre of the pitch, with Nathan Ake coming into defensive midfield.

Jefferson Lerma and Phillip Billing will also make their presence known and get around the pitch.

Ryan Fraser and Joshua King will provide a real threat on the counter, which is where they will look to profit. Having Callum Wilson at the focal point of your attack will always give you a chance.

400 up for David Silva

David Silva will make his 400th City appearance this afternoon.

Guardiola has hailed the milestone, as the midfielder enters the final year of his contract.

“I admire a lot what he has done,” said Pep.

“What I admire the most is to play 400 games – almost 10 seasons here, doing what he has done, it is incredible.

“Big congratulations from me. Every City fan supports him – it is a privilege for everyone, what he has done in this club.”

Gabriel Jesus misses out with injury

Gabriel Jesus has not travelled with the squad to Dorset after sustaining a hamstring problem.

City have confirmed that it was picked up this week in training and he’s been receiving treatment back in Manchester.

They are hopeful he will be back to full fitness after the international break.

Guardiola is hardly short of options in attack though as Sergio Aguero leads the line despite last week’s bust-up with Pep.

Good afternoon

It’s a sunny afternoon on the south coast and the champions are in town looking to close the gap at the top of the Premier League.

Eddie Howe has not won a single point against City since bringing the Cherries to the top flight, he will be looking to change that today.

Meanwhile Pep Guardiola’s side will be itching to get back out there after they were denied all three points against Tottenham last weekend by VAR.

International football returns after this round of action and both clubs will want to sign off with a positive result.
