Hilary Duff is gushing over being able to play Lizzie McGuire again in the new revival of her hit Disney show.
During the D23 Expo convention on Friday, Disney announced the Lizzie McGuire revival is a go. Original series star Duff is on board to reprise the role that thrust her into child stardom. It is one of the series that will help launch Disney’s new streaming service Disney+.
The Younger actress is thrilled to step back into the shoes of Lizzie McGuire. It has been months since Duff teased there might be something in works for bringing back the Disney show.

“The conversations have gone on for a couple of years, and the timing just didn’t seem right, and now Lizzie is turning 30. For me, she was everybody’s best friend, and she was there for us entering your 30s is a really big deal,” she said to People magazine immediately following Disney announcing the good news.
It was not revealed when the revival would drop on the Disney streaming service, which is set to launch in the United States this November. Duff admitted the show has not yet started filming in New York.
“I think it’s the right time to set back in and have her go along with you in your 30s and all the fun times, and all of the big monumental moments, and all of the challenges that you’re faced with. I just thought that there was an opportunity there for her to be grown up and for her to be there for women again,” the actress expressed to the weekly magazine.
Duff also shared an Instagram message letting her followings in on her secret, Lizzie McGuire will soon be back. She also included a video full of clips from the original series that ran from 2000 to 2004.
“SURPRISE!!! I’ve been trying to contain this excitement for a loooong time while this has been in the works! I am beyond excited to be home again, back with my girl and into her 30’s,” the mother of two shared.
It is an exciting time for Hilary Duff and a character that she holds dear to her heart. Lizzie McGuire is getting a revival, and Duff is gushing with excitement over being able to play the role again.
