Homes Under The Hammer's Lucy Alexander launches furious rant after day 'ruined'

Former Homes Under The Hammer presenter Lucy Alexander, 48, ranted about the lack of facilities at a train station for her daughter Kitty, 17, who is a wheelchair user.

As part of a lengthy thread, Lucy told fans she and her daughter had to miss a theatre show, planned for the latter’s birthday.

In view of her 26,000 followers, she wrote: “FURIOUS AGAIN #surbiton that your lifts are STILL not working properly 3rd time in 3 weeks.

“Daughter’s bday treat to theatre tonight ruined & missed as she’s wheelchair user.

“S***E service at my local station even after phoning ahead. Don’t live here.”

She added: “Thank God for the kindness of @oldvictheatre box office for feeling our pain and referring the tix.(sic)

“After my positive bday morning tweet we were not #winning tonight due to broken lifts (again) stopping a wheelchair user from living life! (on her bday)”.

The property expert went on to urge wheelchair users to not use the station as their only option could just be stairs.

After tagging in the wrong train line at first, she added: “@SW_Help @SW_Railway this is the correct train line #surbiton.”

Many of Lucy’s followers flocked to her post to share their thoughts.

After one user sent her wish wishes to the star, she replied: “Hmmm we are all pretty upset tbf was a special night planned.”(sic)

Lucy replied to another Twitter user, telling them the “whole community is affected by this lift fail”.

“Not just once but 3 times in 3 weeks,” she added.

A South Western Railway spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “We’re very sorry that the lift was out of service at Surbiton station and have apologised to Ms Alexander directly.

“Our Accessibility Manager has raised this issue as a priority with Network Rail who manage the infrastructure at stations, including lifts.

“We expect engineers to fix the faulty lift as soon as possible so that the station is accessible for everyone who wants to travel on our services.”

It’s not the first time Lucy has hit out at the lack of facilities at the station on social media.

Lucy Alexander said she was left livid after learning the lifts were broken again earlier this month.

She went on to thank a member of the public for kindly helping Kitty up two flights of stairs in her wheelchair.

She added of the station: “They offered a taxi to Wimbledon then get back on the train there,.. massive hassle for a wheelchair user.

“All this after having already parked, paid etc. These stations need to get there s**t together soon.”

Lucy added the pair were in fact on their way to the BBC to discuss the problems.

Kitty was struck down with Transverse Myelitis, a rare neurological disease, which left her paralysed in 2010.

Homes Under The Hammer continues today at 10am on BBC One.
