Coronation Street spoilers: Kevin Webster haunted by former flame as star teases return

Kevin (played by Michael Le Vell) hasn’t always been the most faithful of men on Coronation Street, becoming just one of the many love rats to grace the cobbles in the past six decades.

It seemed Kevin and his ex-wife Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) were in it for the long run before an affair with the late Molly Dobbs (Vicky Binns) turned his life upside down.

With their affair going on to see young Jack Webster (Kyran Bowes) introduced to the ITV soap, Sally ended up divorcing Kevin.

Since then, Kevin has been unlucky-in-love but there have been glimmers of a potential romance with his employee, Abi (Sally Carman).

As the pair get closer, the first woman to turn Kevin’s head, former Rovers Return barmaid Natalie (Denise Welch) could turn up in Weatherfield to throw a spanner in the works.

Long-term viewers of the soap will remember Natalie first graced the cobbles back in 1997 after becoming co-owner of the grade which Kevin has been in charge of for countless years.

It was because of her connection to the garage an affair began between her and Kevin began, but soon she realised she wanted more as she’d fallen in love with him.

Kevin left Sally for the first time but he too came to a realisation his family meant more to him than his affair with Natalie.

The barmaid went on to have several more romances before leaving Weatherfield on New Year’s Eve in 2000.

However, Natalie it appears is still a part owner of the garage alongside Kevin and Loose Woman Denise, 61, has recently teased her character could return to the fold to check up on her business.

Denise told The Mirror: “I still think Natalie owns half that garage, just saying…” so could a visit to the cobbles lead to old feelings resurfacing between Natalie and Kevin?

There has been no official confirmation Kevin and Abi will venture on a new romance, but recent weeks have seen the pair go for dinner, as well as the mechanic flirting with her boss.

As well as Kevin, Abi too has had her own struggles with romance, so seeing her boss being drawn back to Natalie could leave the car mechanic hugely disappointed another chance at love has been snatched away from her.

Viewers will have to wait and see if Natalie does make a return as the soap celebrates its 60th anniversary and if Kevin and Abi begin their own affair.

Elsewhere on the cobbles, it seems super villain Gary Windass (Mikey North) could be eyeing up another victim.

Since claiming the lives of Rana Habeeb (Bhavna Limbachia) in the Underworld roof collapse tragedy and killing loan shark Rick Neelan (Greg Wodd), Gary has embraced his ruthless streak.

Having become a secret investor for the Underworld factory rebuild and stepping into the shoes of Rick by becoming a loan shark, Gary’s character has certainly become more pronounced.

Teasing what’s ahead for his character, actor Mikey, 32, told Inside Soap: “Gary will carry on getting away with things for a while yet, but there’s a lot of twists coming.

“Apart from his kids, he’s not got a lot to live for. And that’s what makes him dangerous,” the soap star added.

With Gary’s reign of terror continuing for the foreseeable future, will the loan shark claim another life as his villainous streak takes over?

Coronation Street continues tonight at 7.30pm on ITV.
