Call of Duty Modern Warfare alpha preload begins TODAY, download start time revealed

CALL OF DUTY MODERN WARFARE ALPHA PRELOAD – UPDATE ONE: The Call of Duty Modern Warfare alpha preload has begun on PS4.

COD fans can download the 2v2 Gunfight test right now ahead of the Call of Duty Modern Warfare alpha going live on PS4 on Friday.

The news was revealed by the official Call of Duty Twitter who posted: “Clear your weekend.

“The free #ModernWarfare 2v2 Alpha weekend kicks off tomorrow, start your pre-load now – only on PS4.”

ORIGINAL: Call of Duty Modern Warfare alpha preload starts today ahead of the big 2v2 Gunfight test beginning tomorrow exclusively on PS4.

The upcoming Call of Duty Modern Warfare open alpha will be available to all PS4 players and you won’t need a PS Plus membership to take part in it.

The Call of Duty Modern Warfare alpha has a start time of 6pm BST on Friday August 23 and will finish on Sunday August 25.

But ahead of the highly anticipated Call of Duty Modern Warfare test starting COD fans will be able to preload the 2v2 Gunfight.

This means that as soon as the Call of Duty Modern Warfare test goes live fans will be able to jump in and play it straight away.

If you’re looking to preload the Call of Duty Modern Warfare open alpha then you’ll be able to do so today (Thursday August 22).

PS4 owners will be able to preload the Call of Duty Modern Warfare alpha from 6pm BST, CharlieIntel revealed in a post online.

For those in other regions that will be 10am pacific time and 1pm eastern time.

This will be the first chance PS4 fans have had to play Call of Duty Modern Warfare ahead of the open beta and the October 25 release date.

There will be five maps available to play in the Call of Duty alpha which are as follows: Speedball, King, Pine, Docks, and Stack.

Activision has also said that the Gunfight configurations will be shaken up throughout the weekend.

The Call of Duty publisher said: “Expect multiple Operators to be available, at least one game mode to play (with “Pickup” variant mode scheduled), and a number of other surprises as content is added throughout the weekend!”

Besides 2v2 Gunfight Modern Warfare will also feature 6v6, new 10v10, 20v20, and 100 plus player modes when the full version is released later this year.

The Call of Duty Modern Warfare open alpha was first announced during Gamescom Opening Night Live on Monday.

In a blog post Tim Turi from Sony Interactive Entertainment when into more detail about it.

Tim said: “No need to wait until Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launches this autumn to try the intense new Gunfight Mode.

“PlayStation 4 users can deploy into a free Alpha for the 2v2 mode from 23rd-25th August.

“Anyone with a PS4 and an internet connection can access the Alpha and play (no PS Plus membership required).

“The Alpha includes five close-quarters maps, including two never-before-played locales: Docks and Speedball.”
