Fortnite fans will soon be able to download content update 10.10.
Fortnite update 10.10 has been given an August 20 release date by developer Epic Games.
The patch will be available to download at 1pm BST in the UK, and no server downtime is required.
The news was announced by Epic on Twitter: “The v10.10 Content Update drops tomorrow, August 20 at 8 AM ET. Look up what’s new when the Patch Notes are available. No downtime required.”
According to the early patch notes, the big new feature is the Junk Rift item.
Hinted at in a recently leaked loading screen (above), this uncommon item will drop one of four different items on your enemy.
This includes an anchor, a port-o-potty, a police car and – as you can see from the leaked loadings screen – a dinosaur.
The other big change will be made to the Fortnite map, which will be updated with a new POI.
With the Rift zone appearing by the soccer field, it looks like something new will be coming to the Fortnite map.
But what fans really want is for the BRUTE mech to be nerfed – or maybe even removed altogether.
Epic Games has pretty much ruled out removing the mechs, explaining that BRUTEs were added to give rookie players a better chance at scoring a victory.
“Since then [the start of season X], we have seen players who had previously struggled with getting eliminations acquiring more, while the number of eliminations earned by more experienced players remained steady,” Epic explains.
“B.R.U.T.E. encounters should feel like a unique engagement and not be the dominant experience during a game.”
Elsewhere, Epic Games is working on fixes for a number of core issues.
This includes a problem with several cosmetics and pickaxe effects not rendering properly.
Some players are experiencing problems when destroying chests, while others are unable to see challenges when entering Season 10.
