What Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said when asked about Man Utd’s penalty policy after Wolves miss

Paul Pogba’s penalty was saved by Rui Patricio with 20 minutes to go at Molineux.

The Frenchman grabbed the ball ahead of Marcus Rashford – who scored from the spot against Chelsea last weekend.

He missed three penalties last season, netting seven, but United fans were surprised to see him take the spot-kick against Wolves.

And after his penalty was saved, questions were asked about whether or not Pogba would continue to take the responsibility going forward.

But Solskjaer refused to get too disheartened about the miss, and insisted that the midfielder will continue to take penalties going forward.

Speaking after the game, he praised Pogba’s abilities from the spot.

“The two of them are the designated penalty shooters,” he declared.

“It’s up to them there and then to decide that ‘this is mine’.

“Sometimes players feel they are confident enough – Paul has scored so many penalties for us, today Patricio made a good save.

“[Would I change it?] Not at all. The two have been very confident before – the other week Marcus scored a goal but Paul was confident.

“I like players to be confident.

“It doesn’t have to be [one designated taker], no.

“Because sometimes in a game you do grow in confidence, sometimes ‘I don’t want to take it today because I had a bad day’.

“Absolutely no problem with players walking up and saying, ‘this is mine’”

Anthony Martial got United off to a good start with his smartly-taken goal before half-an-hour.

His first-half effort was cancelled out by a screamer by Ruben Neves just after an hour, as Wolves and United shared the points.
