Steph McGovern: BBC Breakfast star seeks health advice as she admits to 'overdoing it'

BBC Breakfast host Steph McGovern, 37, who is expecting her first baby, took to Twitter to share a picture of a lump on her forehead this week.

At first the pregnant presenter wrote: “So here’s the thing. I’ve woken up with a big red lump on my forehead.

“I’ve no idea where it came from or what it is. Any suggestions?

“It’s red, but not itchy. Bite? Allergy? Brain giving up on me and leaving my body?

“I start filming in 30mins so am gonna look a right muppet.”

After a Twitter user urged Steph to share a picture of the problem, she then posted a close-up of the lump in view of her 366,000 followers.

The mother-to-be commented: “The bump (forehead, not [pregnancy] one) is now covered in makeup for telly purposes.

“Still haven’t worked out what it is…… not itchy and doesn’t hurt.”

Seemingly reflecting on answers she had received from fans, she added: “I like the theory it’s a unicorn horn.

“Not loving idea it’s possibly a spider bite. Sleep walking and nutting a wall is another suggestion.”

Steph then responded to a Twitter user who claimed the unidentified lump could be stress-related.

They wrote: “I have the exact same thing. Nothing to worry about. Stress related, in my case. They came and go.”

Steph replied that she had been overdoing it behind-the-scenes: “Ah really?! Interesting.

“I did overdo it with work yesterday, so you could be right.”

Another Twitter user suggested Steph’s lump could be a cyst, prompting Steph to reply with a shocked face emoji.

Earlier this month, Steph McGovern confirmed she is pregnant with her first child.

It is believed Steph’s girlfriend is a television executive, but she keeps her relationship under wraps.

Addressing pregnancy reports, she wrote on Twitter: “I see my news is out! Yep, I am no longer with pot belly.

“I am now with child. #babyonboard.”

Steph spoke of her news on BBC Breakfast the following day, telling viewers she is due in November.

BBC Breakfast continues tomorrow at 6am on BBC One.
