Khabib Nurmagomedov calls for Conor McGregor to be jailed for alleged punch on elderly man

Footage of the former featherweight and lightweight king allegedly punching a patron at a Dublin pub in April was released by TMZ on Thursday.

The video appeared to show Conor McGregor strike the punter after he refused to take a drink of the Irishman’s Proper No.12 whiskey.

Seconds after allegedly hitting the man, a man who it is alleged is McGregor was dragged away from the bar.

The video clip caused outrage in the mixed martial arts and sporting worlds, with many quick to condemn the 31-year-old for his alleged actions.

The footage soon came to the attention of Nurmagomedov, who didn’t hold back when giving his thoughts his rival’s supposed transgression.

“People like this have to go to jail,” the Russian told TMZ.

“[In] my opinion, [if he did it] he has to see a little bit [of] jail, because when something happens and you see jail and you sit a little bit and think about this, OK what I did, why I sit here. He has to think about this.”

Nurmagomedov, nicknamed ‘The Eagle’, called on the law enforcement in Ireland to investigate the alleged incident, and used one of his most famous catchphrases to hammer home his point.

“I don’t want to say nothing to him. I just want to say Ireland’s government, where are you guys? Send him location! That’s it,” Nurmagomedov said.

It’s currently unknown if the man who is struck said or did something to McGregor prior to the alleged incident taking place.

Even if that proves to be the case, Nurmagomedov is adamant it would not warrant him being attacked.

“This is a really, really bad thing,” said Nurmagomedov. “Even if the old guy like this guy in the video punches your face 10 times… you can’t punch this guy’s face. You can’t. This is like impossible.

“We have to respect old people, I don’t understand. One fan sent me a message, he said ‘Hey, you remember when he tried to give you his whiskey, like alcohol, and you don’t take this?

“But why don’t he punch you?’ But now he goes crazy with old people? I don’t understand this.”

McGregor’s alleged misdemeanour is yet another black eye for the sport of MMA.

And Nurmagomedov has called on Irish police to fully investigate McGregor.
