Google Maps Street View has captured a man on the island of Sicily off mainland Italy. Italian men have stereotypically become well known for their expressive appreciation of the female form. And this man has proved no exception to the rule as Google Maps snapped him on his scooter. As he rides along a street in the region of Catania, he isn’t watching the road in front him but rather something on the pavement.
The man’s head has been turned right round as he cranes to look at a blonde woman at the side of the road.
The woman is wearing a white top and denim miniskirt and holds a pale handbag as she walks past a row of cars on the pavement.
She undeniably has the man’s full attention as he motors along, seemingly unaware of the dangerous implications of not looking at the road.
It’s unclear whether the blonde pedestrian is aware of the motorist’s stare as she appears to be looking straight ahead.
It is hoped the man turned his head shortly afterwards as he can be seen approaching a junction.
The viral image was taken in 2009 but has resurfaced repeatedly over the years.
Viewers have seen the humour in the Google Maps photo, with one commenting: “Haha. That’s funny.”
Another wrote: “Ahahahaha it’s obvious that we are in Italy, Southern Italy for sure!”
Sometimes men’s actions snapped on Street View have got them into trouble with their partners.
One man from Merseyside, UK was seen on the Google mapping service smoking to the horror of his wife.
The angry spouse told The Telegraph: “You can’t believe the trouble he caused that day. He still smokes, but he has cut down.”
The husband added: “I couldn’t believe it when she got [the photo] up on the computer!”
Blonde women aren’t always admired by Street View users, however. One female tourist in Mexico sparked horror.
The Google Maps image from Chichen Itza shows the holidaymaker walking among the Mayan ruins, but there is something undeniably strange about her.
The girl’s head appears far too big for her slender body and seems all out of proportion.
Her legs are particularly concerning, though – they appear to be at such a strange angle she doesn’t even look human.
The girl’s creepy appearance has led some Google Maps viewers to wonder whether there is in fact something alien about her. However, the reality is that the photo of unfortunate holidaymaker has been distorted as the result of a technological glitch.
