Game of Thrones ending: Sophie Turner reveals what she wanted – Will the books change?

Nevertheless, Sansa Stark star Sophie Turner has now revealed how she thought the show would end and what her dream ending would be.

The 23-year-old told The Wrap: “I thought Arya would kill Cersei.

“And I would like to have seen Sansa and Cersei reunited, or Arya and Cersei.

“But there were so many ways the story could have turned out.”

Turner added: “I felt very passionately about the ending for Sansa, and I was very happy with the ending that turned out for her.”

Fans will remember that not only did Sansa become Queen in the North, but the kingdom became self-reigning; separate from King Bran’s democratically elected rule from King’s Landing.

But with such a divided response to George RR Martin’s Game of Thrones ending, will the 70-year-old author change things up a bit in the books?

Well, according to the man himself, that’s just not going to happen.

Speaking with 60 Minutes earlier this year, Martin said: “I don’t think [Game of Thrones showrunners] Dan and Dave’s ending is gonna be that different from my ending because of the conversations we did have.

“We’re talking here about several days of story conferences taking place in my home in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

“But there’s no way to get in all the detail, all the minor characters, all the secondary characters.

“The series has been extremely faithful compared to 97% of all television and movie adaptations of literary properties. But it’s not completely faithful. And it can’t be. Otherwise, it would have to run another five seasons.”
