Elementary season seven was the final outing for Jonny Lee Miller’s Sherlock Holmes and Lucy Liu’s Joan Watson. The series finale called The Last Bow contains some shock revelations as fans bid farewell to the much-loved pair on CBS. Here’s a quick recap of what happened in the Elementary series finale.
What happened in the Elementary finale?

The Elementary finale episode took place three years after Holmes (played by Jonny Lee Miller) faked his own death.
Reuniting with Watson (Lucy Liu), the pair came together to take down evil billionaire Odin Reichenbach (James Frain).
At the beginning of the episode, the news breaks that Reichenbach has been sentenced to 148 years in prison.
Watson goes to visit her former partner’s grave after she receives a suspicious package from Jamie Moriarty (Natalie Dormer).

Receiving the message, Holmes comes back to New York and tells Joan about the work he’s been up to.
He reveals he’s been taking on criminals around the world while Watson reveals she’s been assisting the NYPD and raising her adopted son Arthur (Jonathan Han).
The pair reunite amid fears that Moriarty may be after them, which soon turns out to be a false alarm.
Emboldened by the news, Holmes decides he will go back to his undercover work with an offer from Reichenbach’s associate Agent McNally (Tim Guinee).

He offers Holmes a job with the NSA provided that he agrees to remain a ghost for the rest of his life.
However, Captain Thomas Gregson (Aidan Quinn) tells him that Watson has cancer and will soon be beginning chemotherapy.
He vows to stay in New York as a result to support his beloved friend.
The episode then cuts to one year later when Holmes is seen attending Moriatry’s funeral.

Although, the detective admits that he does not think his nemesis is really dead.
Watson has also made a full recovery and wants to reprise their role as consultants to Captain Bell (Jon Michael Hill).
The episode ends with Holmes and Watson stepping into Bell’s office, with the latter concerned the captain won’t take them back.
Holmes tells her: “As long as we’re together, what does it matter?”

The finale is a fitting end to the seven-year show, implying that the pair’s adventures are only just beginning.
Showrunner Rob Doherty told TV Line about the finale: “We wanted change, obviously. Sherlock and Joan’s circumstances have changed.
“But, I also, ultimately, felt it was important to suggest to the people who stayed with us for so long that the adventure continues, the relationship endures.
“There’s more coming, and we can feel good about leaving Sherlock and Joan where they are.”
