Caitriona Balfe wedding: Outlander’s Claire Fraser 'MARRIES Anthony McGill in secret'

Outlander actress Caitriona Balfe, 39, reportedly said “I do” with Anthony McGill at St. Mary’s Church in Bruton, Somerset last weekend.

According to People, a source told them the couple’s ceremony was private and only included close family as guests.

The publication added their wedding was officiated by Rev. Louis Beasley-Suffolk, who also performed a Roman Catholic service.

Express.co.uk has contacted representatives for Caitriona Balfe for comment.

Earlier this week, Outlander fans were convinced Sam Heughan’s latest Instagram post was a picture of him at the wedding.

The actor, who stars as Jamie Fraser alongside Caitriona in the Starz series, shared snap of himself sporting a grey suit and a black tie as he stood in front of an idyllic setting.

Sam leaned on an umbrella while holding onto a glass as he hid behind dark glasses.

In view of his 1.6 million followers, he captioned the picture: “Remarkable weekend. Wonderful tailoring @alfreddunhill.”

One of his fans wrote: “You look Sharp Sam. Gave my Congratulations to Cait & Tony.”

A second commented: “Cait and Toni’s Wedding??” while a third penned: “We need a pic of the bride.”

Caitriona and Anthony are yet to publicly speak out about the wedding claims.

Back in 2018, the actress confirmed the pair were engaged after two years of dating.

“It happened over the break. I’m very happy,” she told the publication.

It’s unclear when the pair first started dating, however they were reportedly first spotted together in 2015.

According to the publication, a friend shared an Instagram video of the actress sitting on Anthony’s lap.

They were later spotted together at Jodie Foster‘s Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in 2016, as well as the Wilde Awards in 2017.

Their most recent public appearance was at the the music and arts event Henley Festival last month.

Back in October 2018, Caitriona briefly addressed her engagement in an interview with Parade.

When asked if Outlander fans had finally accepted that her and Sam are not a couple in real life, she added: “There’s a small vocal group that really wanted it, which is just a testament to the characters that we portray.

“The love story is so inspiring and so aspirational that people just really wanted to believe in it.

“And that’s a nice thing. But I think things are pretty clear now that I’m engaged to someone else. Everyone gets it now.”
