GTA 6 release prediction bad news for PS4 but another Rockstar game could be coming soon

Rumours continue to swirl around Rockstar Games and what their next big project will be, following the success of Red Dead Redemption 2.

Many fans want to it to be GTA 6, a game that has yet to be announced or be given a release date.

But being one of the biggest gaming franchises of all time makes it almost certain that a new Grand Theft Auto title is coming.

But there has been plenty of speculation of whether GTA 6 will be Rockstar’s next big announcement.

Rumours suggest it has been in development for some time, however, the latest predictions suggest it might not arrive until 2021.

This would put it beyond the PS4 and Xbox One, as Rockstar are unlikely to want to see support such out of date tech.

There are also rumours that Bully 2 will be announced this year and will be available on PS4 and Xbox One.

But if Rockstar dropped a surprise game for fans on PS4 before any of these new titles are announced?

Fans have spotted that PEGI has rated L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for PlayStation 4.

Currently, the virtual reality version of the game is available on Steam and Oculus.

And with PlayStation VR the biggest VR platform around, it would make sense that Rockstar would want to launch the new Case Files on it.

This isn’t solid proof that his new experience is coming to PS4 and should be taken with a pinch of salt for now.

“L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files places you directly in the shoes of Detective Cole Phelps as you solve brutal crimes, plots and conspiracies inspired by real cases from 1947 Los Angeles, one of the most corrupt and violent times in L.A. history,” the official game description reads.

“Featuring seven cases rebuilt specifically for virtual reality, L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files adds new layers of immersion and realism to Rockstar Games’ atmospheric crime thriller as you solve select cases from the blockbuster original game, spanning mysteries from the Detective desks of Traffic, Arson, Homicide, and more.”

Take-Two Interactive has already confirmed that they have an impressive pipeline of games in development in 2019.

References to their biggest franchises were also made, suggesting that big news is on the horizon.

“Fiscal 2020 is off to a terrific start with first-quarter operating results that beat our expectations,” said Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two during an earnings call.

“We delivered significant Net Bookings and cash flow growth driven by the performance of Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V, NBA 2K19, the Borderlands franchise, and Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online.

“As a result of our better-than-expected first-quarter operating results and increased forecast for the balance of the year, we are raising our outlook for fiscal 2020, which is anticipated to be another great year for our organisation.

“We aim to build on this strong start by delivering a robust array of titles throughout the year, including Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, NBA 2K20, Borderlands 3, WWE 2K20 and The Outer Worlds, as well as new and innovative ways for consumers to remain engaged with their favourite entertainment experiences.

“Looking ahead, Take-Two has the strongest development pipeline in its history, including sequels from our biggest franchises as well as exciting new IP. We are exceedingly well-positioned to capitalise on the positive trends in our industry, and to generate significant growth and margin expansion over the long-term.”
