No Man's Sky Beyond RELEASE DATE, update patch notes, launch time and more

No Man’s Sky developer Hello Games is getting ready to release the free Beyond update for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Fans are counting down to the huge new update, which has an August 14 release date.

While there’s no word on an exact launch time, the fact that Hello Games is a UK studio makes it more likely the patch will be released by midday on Wednesday.

Express Online will update this article when an exact launch time has been revealed. Full patch notes will also be added once the update goes live.

Beyond is described as three major updates rolled into one, and is compared to last year’s NEXT update in terms of scope.

Arguably the biggest new feature is virtual reality support for PSVR, Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

Virtual reality fans will be able to play the entire adventure in VR, which sounds like the perfect excuse to pick up a compatible headset.

According to Hello Games, VR players will even be able to interact with non-VR players in multiplayer – which we’ll get to in a moment.

“Grab the joystick and thruster to fly your starship over an unexplored alien planet as you peer out of the cockpit at the view below,” Hello Games explains.

“Reach into your backpack to grab your multitool, touch it to switch to terrain manipulation, and carve out intricate shapes with unprecedented control.

“Play in multiplayer and casually wave to your non-VR friends or fist bump your VR peers. Anything possible in No Man’s Sky, NEXT or any other update will soon be ready and waiting as an immersive and enriched VR experience.”

Then there’s No Many’s Sky Online, which is likened to an MMO without any subscription fees.

It’s also described as a “radical new social and multiplayer experience that empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together”.

Beyond’s multiplayer offering will feature its own set of missions, as well as a new social space.

Other new features include creature taming, riding and milking; new cooking skills and recipes; brand new aliens; Power and Logic and Industrial Bases; plus much more.
