Trump shock: Former ally Bannon announces candidate capable of beating Donald in huge blow

Mr Bannon, who was a key player in Trump’s 2016 victory, claimed the Democrats could pin their hopes on an eleventh-hour bid by another candidate rather than the almost two dozen currently in the mix. Speaking on Fox News’s ‘Sunday Morning Futures’ he said, one candidate who stood a chance to beat Trump was former First Lady Michelle Obama. He said: “I don’t see anybody that’s on this stage right now that can take President Trump one-on-one.

“There’s a number of potential Democratic candidates still out there that could join this race.

“I’m not so sure his opponent has even declared yet.”

“You’ve got to watch guys like Bloomberg, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama – a whole raft of potentials.”

Michelle, the wife of former President Barack Obama, claimed there was “zero chance” she would make a bid for the White House.

Despite Michelle’s dismissal of running, it hasn’t stopped Democrats from raising her name.

Michael Moore, filmaker and activist, said the popular former First Lady would “crush” Trump after he called on her to run as the best hope for the Democrats.

Speaking to MSNBC, he said: “She is a beloved American, and she would go in there, and she would beat him.

“She would beat him in the debates, he wouldn’t be able to bully her, he wouldn’t be able to nickname her.”

Rasmussen Reports, an American polling company, ran a hypothetical survey in November which resulted in 50 percent of likely U.S. voters voting for Michelle over Trump.

Michelle was named the world’s most admired woman in a 2019 YouGov survey.

Any new Democrats jumping into the 2020 race would be at a disadvantage as they would be behind other candidates who have spent months courting voters in early voting states like Iowa and South Carolina.

Mr Bannon said: “There’s going to be ample opportunity to come into this race later in November, December, even when the primaries start.

“Maybe a candidate can’t win the primary season, but they can take it into the convention.”
