Netflix is going to be dropping 13 Reasons Why season three on Friday, August 23 with all 13 instalments hitting the platform in one go. Season three will be picking up the story from the previous run but the big focus will be the murder of Bryce Walker (played by Justin Prentice). The new series will see the return of the students of Liberty High but it seems not everyone will be back in the series this year.

The trailer for 13 Reasons Why season three was recently released and gave some telling insight into the forthcoming run.
Audiences were teased with the mystery of Bryce’s death and hints of who could be responsible.
The teaser moved from one character to another, suggesting they could be implicated in some way.
There was also a shot of new girl Ani (Grace Saif) who appeared to be washing a blood-soaked item of clothing.
However, there are some key characters missing from the trailer including Courtney Crimson (Michele Selene Ang), Marcus Cole (Stephen Silver) and Sheri Holland (Ajiona Alexus).
Their absences are stark and it’s yet to be revealed why they’re no longer part of the story.
In the case of Marcus, after being suspended he may have chosen to leave while Courtney could have done something similar.
But Sheri’s lack of presence in the trailer seems strange considering she had a bigger part in season two when she was caring for Justin Foley (Brandon Flynn) and helping him get clean.
She also showed her remorse for her actions in season one and was trying to make amends.
Right at the end of the second season we learnt she’d been sexually assaulted when she was in a juvenile detention centre for causing the traffic accident that ultimately led to Jeff Atkins’ (Brandon Larracuente) death.
According to IMDb, actress Alexus isn’t in season three of 13 Reasons Why but it’s not clear why this is the case.
One reason could be the star is in high demand since her breakout role as Sheri in season one.
Alexus is in a number of big shows including Empire. Marvel’s Runaways and Light as a Feather.
She has major roles in each of these shows and perhaps a schedule clash may have meant she was unable to shoot season three of 13 Reasons Why.
Sheri’s absence is most likely to be addressed in the new series given that Justin is still very much in the show and was cared for by her.
Justin’s battle with addiction could also continue in season three as well as his tumultuous relationship with former cheerleader Jessica Davis (Alisha Boe).
Season three will also address Tyler Down’s (Devin Druid) sexual assault which led him to almost commit a mass shooting in revenge – but thankfully he was stopped at the last minute.
13 Reasons Why season 3 will be released on Netflix on August 23
