TUI River Cruises gives passengers on this ship route £120 free to spend – where is it to?

Cruise ship holidays – and indeed any vacation abroad – can be made all the sweeter with a freebie thrown in, and that’s just what TUI River Cruises has done with its latest deal. The firm, which runs river cruises around the world, has jam-packed its new spring 2020 route with more destinations than days. Those looking for a bargain will also be catered for as the latest offer includes £120 to spend on the ship in excursion credit. Yet where is this European route, and what can travellers expect?

TUI River Cruises’ latest deal is a route to The Moselle Valley, dubbed Vines and Views, with tickets costing £1,430 per person.

Passengers will travel on the ship TUI Maya and call at no less than eight destinations during the seven days.

The cruise sets sail from Frankfurt, Germany and visits Koblenz, Germany; Bernkastel-Kues, Germany; Trier, Germany; Piesport, Germany; Traben-Trarbach, Germany; Cochem, Germany; Boppard, Germany and Oberwesel, Germany.

Prices are based on two adults sharing a deck one standard cabin on a full board plus basis.

The cruise departs on 12th April 2020, flying from London Heathrow airport.

Price includes return flights, transfers, free £120 excursion credit, tips and service charges.

For the stop off in Koblenz, TUI recommends visiting the hilltop fortress, taking a walking tour and the tourist train.

Meanwhile, the next stop is said to ooze a “English countryside feel.”

Trier is right in the heart of the Moselle wine region, making it a great stop off, while Cochem is hailed as “Germany at its prettiest.”

Meanwhile the most “desired” route for river cruises recently came to light.

Holiday specialist firm Titan Travel has attempted to dispel rumours around river cruises with its new campaign and survey, showing 28 per cent of travelers had never been on a river cruise.

Yet for those who have, one particular geographical destination and specific section of water trumps them all.

This river cruise hotspot was found to be Europe, with the results stating: “European rivers remain the most desired, with the Danube, Rhine and Douro top three rivers to cruise.”

Meanwhile, the data found that the Loire, in France, came out as the fourth most desired river to cruise whilst also being the least travelled by its customers.

Across 2018/19, the latter river route was requested by 30 per cent of Titan’s customers, prompting a new addiction to the sailing schedule for 2020.

Andy Squirrell, Managing Director at Titan Travel, told of the campaign which also saw newbie river cruise travellers enjoy a trip, and said: “We’re thrilled with the results of our recent myth busting campaign.”
