Flights see plane passengers crammed into small surroundings, particularly in economy flights. Fliers can frequently be found complaining about the lack of space and comfort. It’s easy to understand why some travellers go to great lengths to make themselves comfortable. One passenger who tried this, however, was caught on camera – and horrified those who saw the photo when it was posted on Instagram.
The plane passenger was spotted in his plane seat in a position that has provoked outrage.
A photo of the incident has gone viral after being shared by Instagram account passengershaming.
The image shows the man resting his feet on top of the seat in front of him in the aircraft.
But to make matters worse, the passenger has removed his shoes and socks so his feet are totally bare.
Furthermore, he appears to have the luxury of two seats to himself as he seems to be sitting at an angle.
Consequently, his feet are resting on the edge of the headrest between the two seats in front.
Another passenger’s head can just be seen above the headrest of the seat in front.
This means the man’s bare feet are right next to the other flier’s head.
The shot looks to be taken by a passenger sitting next to the man – and has attracted numerous comments from shocked Instagram users.
“Disgusting. What kind of pig thinks this is ok?” one person wrote. Another added: “So nasty.”
A third added: “I just cannot understand this behaviour. You have to be either extremely rude or extremely oblivious.”
Some Instagram viewers suggested how others could have retaliated. “Push the feet down. People do this s*** because no one calls them out,” one commented.
Others went even further: “If someone did that to me I would just take out my lighter and light the bottom of their foot on fire,” one posted.
The man is far from the first person to have been shamed by the Instagram account passengershaming.
A recent image showed a male passenger doing something even more unpleasant with his bare feet.
He was spotted using his big toe to swipe across his TV screen and then resting his feet on the wall either side.
Many shared their thoughts on the video footage on the social media site. “This is why I obsessively clean everything with hand sanitiser on flights. Screens, tables and seat belt buckles especially,” one person wrote.
“No manners & no respect for others,” another Instagram user commented on the video. “How disgusting can you get?? Why don’t flight attendants say anything?” a third added.
