Tucker Carlson’s Statements On White Supremacy Are Costing Fox News A Lot In Advertising Dollars

After Fox News host Tucker Carlson expressed his views on white supremacy, calling it a “hoax,” the network found itself in hot water as many immediately started criticizing the statement and accusing the political commentator of trying to provoke people.

Carlson stated: “The whole thing is a lie. It’s not a real problem in America. This is a hoax, just like the Russia hoax. It’s a conspiracy theory used to divide the country and keep a hold on power. That’s exactly what’s going on.”

He went on to say: “I’ve lived here for 50 years. I’ve never met anybody, not one person, who ascribes to white supremacy. I don’t know a single person who thinks that’s a good idea. They’re making this up.”

Back in December, Carlson landed in trouble for saying immigration makes the U.S. “poorer and dirtier” and added: “The left says we have a moral obligation to admit the world’s poor. Even if it makes our own country more like Tijuana is now, which is to say poorer and dirtier and more divided. That’s what we said. It’s true, ask Genaro Lopez. Thanks to the efforts of the American left, he and his city are living with the consequences. But precisely because it is so true, saying it out loud is a threat.”

And while these outrages typically do not last long, it looks like this one might have some actual long-term consequences for Fox News.

There have been various reports of companies/sponsors dropping the show as an advertising partner, with the most recent one coming from Long John Silver’s.

A total of more than 20 companies have reportedly joined the boycott of Fox News, including Nestle and HelloFresh.

Nestle has confirmed explicitly that they are dropping all plans to advertise on Fox News in the future.

Meanwhile, it does not seem like Fox News is trying to do any damage control, as they have remained silent on the issue for the time being.

Carlson himself has at least admitted that he needs some time to reflect on the situation, although he added that his critics were overreacting.

Some have even called for Carlson’s resignation or dismissal, although it does not look like this is on the table at the moment.

However, if the situation with lost advertisement opportunities continues to develop in the same direction, it is not unlikely that Fox News might reconsider their stance.

Even if Carlson is currently a valuable employee to them, he may have gone a bit too far with this one, and it could cost him his career looking by the way things are going.
