PS Plus Free Games SURPRISE: PS4 update is great news for PlayStation gamers

There’s a brand new PS4 free game available to download today, and it comes with an added PS Plus bonus.

As many subscribers will already know, WipEout Omega Collection and Sniper Elite 4 are the official free PS Plus games for August.

But with the PlayStation Store being regularly updated with new content, there’s bound to be a few other rewards popping up over the coming weeks.

And one of those has just arrived, with a brand new game available to download and play for free this weekend.

And the best news of all is that during this special beta period, PlayStation 4 gamers will not require a PS Plus subscription.

The game in question is Black Desert, which is set to be released later this month as a paid-for game.

But before that happens, MMO fans can download and start playing the open beta version.

The good news is that the Black Desert open beta will be available for free on the PSN until August 13.

And for those that don’t know what it is, Black Desert is an expansive MMORPG, allowing gamers to hunt monsters and huge bosses. It’s proven very popular on a number of other platforms and will be having its full release on PS4 very soon.

The official release date for Black Desert is August 22, 2019, bringing yet another game to the PlayStation Store.

“Your adventure begins now as the Black Desert beta for Playstation 4 is live until August 13th,” a message from Pearl Abyss reveals.

“The beta is free for all Playstation members regardless of whether you have Playstation + or not!

“All you need to do is head to the Playstation store and search for the Black Desert Beta, download, and then you can begin to write your story.”

According to the official blurb, beta testing for Black Desert will end on August 13 at around 10am in the UK.

Until then, players have plenty of free content to play with, although it should be noted that the full version of the game will require PlayStation Plus membership for online multiplayer.

Meanwhile, all participants that sign up for the Beta will receive an exclusive Sky Hawk pet at launch, and it should also be noted that all player data will reset at the end of the event.

Black Desert is available for pre-order with Standard (£23.99 GBP), Deluxe (£39.99 GBP) and Ultimate (£78.49 GBP) Editions, which offers various in-game rewards.

“The world of Black Desert contains vast regions, fierce enemies, and an immersive story that’s waiting to be explored,” a message from the development team adds.

“You’ll choose from six different character classes: Warrior, Sorceress, Ranger, Berserker, Wizard, or Witch.

“Each class offers various strengths and weaknesses, so choose wisely to cast powerful magic, launch stealth attacks, or deliver devastating damage in this open-ended sandbox world.

“Black Desert provides you with endless customisation options to create a living, breathing world that feels like your own. Personalise your character with Black Desert’s highly detailed customisation tool and create an Adventurer to become your true self.

“You’ll be ready to explore three different expansive regions within the beta, Serendia, Balenos and Calpheon, powering up your character to a maximum level of 50.

“While the world of Black Desert is known for its real-time combat and in-depth action within quests, your adventure also includes the chance to become a part of an expansive, living world populated by players around the world.”

It has also been confirmed that the last day of the Black Desert beta (August 13) will end with an enormous fireworks show for all players to enjoy.
