Alisson injury update with Liverpool star set to miss up to six weeks

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson could be out of Jurgen Klopp’s plans for up to six weeks, it’s understood.

The Brazilian was substituted with a calf injury in Liverpool’s opening Premier League fixture against Norwich City.

Klopp had revealed after the match that it didn’t look good for Alisson, who has just returned to Liverpool after the Copa America.

He could now be out of action for up to six weeks, including crunch Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Chelsea.

Alisson pulled up after taking a goal kick in the first half of Liverpool’s win against Norwich.

The Brazilian immediately looked behind him, sparking fears he may have torn his Achilles.

However, it appears to be a calf injury, which will be a small win for Klopp.

If Alisson doesn’t return to action for six weeks, he could miss a number of crucial Liverpool fixtures.

Klopp has already confirmed that he won’t be available for Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea in Istanbul.

But, he could also miss Premier League fixtures against Arsenal at Anfield at the end of August, and Liverpool’s trip to Stamford Bridge at the end of September.

Alisson told fans that he’s hoping to back stronger when he returns to action.

Klopp will have to rely on back-up goalkeeper Adrian while Alisson recovers, having only signed for the club this summer.

“Thank you all for the messages!” Alisson wrote on Twitter after the match.

“Will be back as soon as possible and stronger.”

Meanwhile, some Liverpool fans thought their chances of winning the Premier League title were over when the goalkeeper was substituted through injury.

Liverpool’s next Premier League match is against Southampton at St Mary’s on Saturday (August 17).
