Eamonn Holmes and wife Ruth Langsford leave son ’mortified’ with ‘cheeky toast’ remark

Ruth Langsford, 59, and Eamonn Holmes, 59, couldn’t resist sharing a cheeky innuendo during yesterday’s episode of This Morning while their son Jack Holmes was watching on backstage. The presenters alluded to their sex life while chatting to Love Island 2019 finalist Ovie Soko, 28, who was hosting a cooking segment on the ITV show. The racy conversation started when the basketball player revealed he would be making “cheeky toast”. Ruth then quizzed her husband about why she never gets any “cheeky toast” in the mornings.

Eamonn mischievously replied: “I’m looking for that before you say I want my breakfast.”

After Ovie and Ruth realised what the TV personality was hinting at, they couldn’t help but giggle.

The Irish presenter continued: “Like clockwork my wife is in the morning.

“I say, ‘Any chance of some cheeky toast?’ She goes, ‘No I’m starving I want my breakfast’.”

Ruth attempted to stop the raunchy chat in its tracks when she remembered her and Eamonn’s son was in the studio.

“Can I just say our 17-year-old son is here. Have you forgotten?” she exclaimed.

The camera then panned around to show Jack sitting with Ovie’s mum as he covered his face with his hand in apparent embarrassment.

After spotting Jack’s reaction, Ruth added: ”Look at him, he’s mortified, oh Jack, sorry darling.”

Unfortunately for the teenager, Eamonn took the opportunity to have a laugh at his expense as he continued: “One day son you’ll know the meaning of a bit of cheeky toast.”

Ovie seemed very amused by the situation as he laughed in the kitchen.

Ruth then jokingly told the former Islander: “I blame you Ovie. Look what you’ve started.”

Elsewhere, Eamonn Holmes told This Morning viewers to “lighten up” after making a comment about Rochelle Humes’, 30, nude photo shoot for Women’s Health magazine.

Before The Saturdays singer presented her fashion segment on the show, the star jokingly remarked: “Hopefully doing the same Rochelle. Hopefully doing the same in the studio.”

Rochelle then replied: “No, no, no. Don’t worry I won’t put anyone off their breakfast. We’re talking clothes today. We’re talking flashing the flesh a little bit.”

Eamonn’s response to the segment caused one fan to suggest Eamonn was “sexualising” her with his comments in front of his other half, Ruth.

They tweeted: “Is @EamonnHolmes putting it on? Just watched him sexualise @RochelleHumes hoping she ‘comes on like that!!!’… while next to his wife… as she is to talk about her recent nude photoshoot lol like SURELY this isn’t real.”(sic)

However, in spite of the viewer’s complaint, Eamonn explained he was just “having a laugh” on the programme.

He wrote back to the tweet: “Hey guys lighten up please – we were having a laugh.”

This Morning airs weekdays at 10:30am on ITV
