Call of Duty Modern Warfare could have FREE bonus that’s bad news for Fortnite and PUBG

Call of Duty Modern Warfare is one of the year’s most highly anticipated titles, and COD fans could have been delivered some great news.

It’s rumoured that Call of Duty Modern Warfare is getting a Battle Royale mode that will be entirely free to download.

The free Call of Duty Modern Warfare Battle Royale mode will allegedly launch in early 2020.

This means the free download that will rival Fortnite and PUBG will launch a few months after Call of Duty Modern Warfare gets released.

The next entry in the COD series has a worldwide release date of October 25 on PS4, Xbox One and PCs.

The rumoured Battle Royale mode won’t be the first time a Call of Duty game has had such a feature.

Last year’s Call of Duty Black Ops 4 was the first COD game to have a Battle Royale mode, and was released following the huge success of Fortnite.

However, the Black Ops 4 Battle Royale mode – called Blackout – was part of the paid COD game.

So, this means Modern Warfare could see the launch of the first ever standalone, free-to-play Call of Duty Battle Royale mode.

And if that’s what Activision are planning then it could end up having a huge impact on the Fortnite player numbers.

The rumours come courtesy of YouTuber LongSensation who tweeted: “So apparently Battle Royale in #ModernWarfare will be a free mode to release in early 2020.

“It will be downloadable as a separate game, but also will still be connected to the core game. If this is true then it’s a very good move by Activision.”

LongSensation added that the intro screen for the Call of Duty free Battle Royale mode will feature a number of logos.

They tweeted: “Likely the intro will be “INFINITY WARD” “RAVEN SOFTWARE” “ACTIVISION” then a loading screen taking you to the main menu for BR”.

While it’s best to take rumours with a pinch of salt until official confirmation, LongSensation does have form in being accurate with their leaks.

Earlier this year the YouTuber revealed that Call of Duty 2019 would be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare before it was officially announced.

The news comes after Kotaku earlier this year reported that Activision had been discussed a possible free-to-play component for Modern Warfare.
