Will Sadio Mane play against Norwich? Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp provides the latest

Mane was the last player to return from international duty following his exploits in the Africa Cup of Nations with Senegal.

He came back to Melwood late on Monday after having just two weeks off following the AFCON final and Klopp revealed the winger took part in his first team training session on Wednesday.

There have been concerns by some fans on whether he would be deemed fit enough to play against Norwich having not played any of the pre-season for Liverpool.

But Klopp has no issues in throwing Mane back into action straight away on Friday night against Norwich.

When asked whether he could be ready to play on Friday night, Klopp said: “Yes.

“He had only two weeks off [laughs]… He looks fit.

“Yesterday was the first session with the team because Monday he came in at 4pm when we had already left and Tuesday the team was off and he had his individual session.

“He looks absolutely ok and in good spirits and looking forward to it.

“He’s an option so we will see.”

But Klopp stopped short of revealing what his first starting line-up of the season will look like.

“We have a lot of options and different line-ups,” he added.

“No player gave me any reason to leave them out.

“We have to make decisions about the squad and that’s hard but it’s how life is for professional footballers.

“If Ox starts it will be a team that has never started together because he’s not played with Alisson.”
