Inter Milan confirm Romelu Lukaku deal as star delivers cryptic message after Man Utd exit

The Belgian joins the Serie A side after a summer-long transfer saga and has signed a contract until 2024.

Lukaku was down the pecking order at Manchester United with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring Marcus Rashford.

And the Belgian has joined Inter for a fee of £73million.

After joining Antonio Conte’s side Lukaku said: “Inter, it’s not for everyone, that’s why I’m here.”

The striker with a grin on his face and wearing an Inter shirt delivered the cryptic words.

Lukaku leaving United leaves Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with few options in attack.

TRANSFER NEWS LIVE: LATEST DEADLINE DAY DEALS

Rashford will lead the line with Mason Greenwood, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez as trhe only other viable options.

Lukaku went on strike to force a move and failed to return to United training this week.

United legend Paul Scholes believes a move away from Old Trafford was the right thing for Lukaku.

That’s despite Lukaku netting 42 goals in 96 games, and 77 of those coming as a starter.

He said: “I don’t think he was suited to Ole.

“Ole wants someone with a bit of energy, a bit of speed, someone who is going to work hard (but) he’ll score goals.”

And Phil Neville agrees with his former United team-mate.

“I’ll be honest with you, I never felt as if he was a United centre forward. That was my feeling,” Neville told PA.

“I think there was always that feeling of was he fit enough? And was his style suited to playing football for Manchester United? That was my question.

“He’ll always score goals wherever he goes. He’ll score goals for Inter Milan.

“But the way you want to play, you’ve got to fit the right people on the bus and Romelu Lukaku was never that person.”
