Model Emily Ratajkowski is getting real about feminism. She penned an essay in the September issue of Harper’s Bazaar on the topic. Ratajkowski also chose not to shave her armpits to make her piece more impactful.
The 28-year-old Is all glammed up wearing a bra and proudly showing off her hairy pits for the essay. Ratajkowski got candid about her choice to sometimes go au natural with her body hair.
“I decide to shave my armpits or grow them out, that’s up to me. For me, body hair is another opportunity for women to exercise their ability to choose, a choice based on how they want to feel and their associations with having or not having body hair,” the Entourage alum began her message.
The brunette beauty also shared that at times, it makes her feel sexy to let her body hair grow out. Ratajkowski states there is no right or wrong answer when it comes to feminism or rather what makes a woman feel like a feminist.
“And there is no right answer, no choice that makes me more or less of a feminist, or even a ‘bad feminist,’ to borrow from Roxane Gay. As long as the decision is my choice, then it’s the right choice. Ultimately, the identity and sexuality of an individual is up to them, and no one else,” she continued.
Ratajkowski discussed women in general, including their power sexually. She makes an intriguing viewpoint about women and power culturally.
“As a culture, we are scared of women generally, but also, more specifically, of the innate power that female sexuality possesses. A woman becomes too powerful and thus threatening when she takes strength from embracing her sex. Therefore, we insist on shaming; we insist that a woman loses something when she flaunts or embraces her sexuality,” the actress declared.
Emily Ratajkowski talks feminism in a new candid essay for Harper’s Bazaar. She is not afraid to reveal she feels the sexiest when she is herself. However, feeling herself means various things to Ratajkowski because it all depends on how she feels in the moment.

So, the model can feel like a feminist in a mini-skirt just as easily as a hoodie. The point is women should be able to express being strong and free in any way they deem necessary. In Ratajkowski’s case, that sometimes means not shaving her armpits.
