Avengers Endgame: Red Skull was 'OFFENDED' in off-screen Captain America meeting by THIS

In the closing scenes of Avengers Endgame, Captain America took the Infinity Stones and Mjolnir back in time, to return them to their original moments in history. While we didn’t get to see this journey, fans soon worked out this meant a reunion with Red Skull on Vormir when returning the Soul Stone. After all, Steve Rogers and the villain hadn’t seen each other since World War II, when the Tesseract transported Red Skull to the purple planet at the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. But now Avengers Endgame directors The Russo Brothers have revealed how that off-screen meeting went down.

Yesterday, the Avengers Endgame directors took part in a Reddit AMA, where one fan asked: “How did the meeting between Cap and the Red Skull go when he returned the Soul Stone after Endgame?

“Is there a story there and will we ever see it in a future movie?”

Anthony Russo replied: “It was probably more awkward than you imagine it was.

“Red Skull felt slated because Cap didn’t recognise him.”

AVENGERS ENDGAME HULK PLOT HOLE?

He added: “We did send him to space and send him a way very much on purpose…

“There’s a fascinating one-act play to be written of Captain America going to Red Skull.

“Never wrote it. In the manifesto document, there was one theory that [it was] Cap who goes to space… and he has to collaborate with Red Skull to get the Stone.”

Avengers Endgame is still in cinemas and is released on digital download on August 19 and Blu-ray and DVD on September 2.
