Piers Morgan addresses GMB co-star Susanna Reid’s news: ‘Couldn’t be happier for her…’

Piers Morgan took to Twitter and Instagram to light-heartedly complain following an announcement about his colleague Susanna Reid. The outspoken broadcaster has worked with the former BBC Breakfast star since 2015 on Good Morning Britain, with them regularly disagreeing on air. And now the 48-year-old has received not one but two nods at the National Reality TV Awards 2019, with the journalist, 54, failing to be nominated personally. He addressed the news in view of his 6.7 million followers on the micro-blogging site after GMB’s official account spoke out.

“Congratulations to @susannareid100 for being nominated for ‘Celebrity Personality of the Year 2019’ at the #NationalRealityTVAwards,” the programme’s original tweet was captioned.

It was accompanied by a picture of Piers and Susanna on the show, with him looking far from happy as she rested her hand on his shoulder.

“Couldn’t be happier for her,” he seemingly wrote sarcastically, with two angry red emojis.

The father-of-four echoed his thoughts on Instagram with his 664,000 fans, with the same image.

He added: “Just heard @susannareid100 has been nominated for ‘Celebrity Personality of the Year 2019’ at #NationalRealityTVAwards. As you can see, I am thrilled for her.”

Taking it all in good humour, Susanna shared his tweet and, in response to the confirmation from the award’s themselves, stated: “Thank you lovely people.”

However, the mother-of-three faces stiff competition in the category, from the likes of

Paddy McGuiness (Take Me Out), Caroline Flack (Love Island) and Kevin McCloud (Grand Designs).

She is also nominated in the best TV presenter category, sponsored by Dechavel, and is up against Zoe Ball (Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two), Holly Willoughby (This Morning)

and Caroline, 39.

Susanna is also in good company with Joel Dommett (I’m a Celebrity: Extra Camp), AJ Odudu (The Voice UK) and Evan Davis (Dragon’s Den).

But all is not lost for Piers as Good Morning Britain is up for best talk show, sponsored by Kiss Aesthetics.

Fellow ITV daytime offerings Loose Women and This Morning have also been nominated, with The Last Leg, The One Show, The Big Narstie Show and The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan.

The ninth National Reality TV Awards 2019 will take place on September 30 at the

Porchester Hall in London.

Over 5.3 million submissions were received for this year’s nominations and Love Island was a clear favourite amongst viewers.

It has got a record-breaking 16 nods, popping up in best reality competition show and entertainment show sections.

Meanwhile, it comes just hours after Piers Morgan reacted to Barack Obama’s comments on the US shooting, asking him: “Why did you do nothing?”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
