Louise Redknapp blames ‘trauma’ of Jamie divorce for red light fine as she’s sentenced

Louise Redknapp, 44, admitted driving through a red light in Wandsworth, south west London, on November 2 last year.

Appearing at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court this afternoon, the former Eternal singer was fined £666 for the driving incident, which occurred in her Land Rover.

Rebecca Penfold, defending Louise, told the court the star had “full remorse” and takes full responsibility.

Louise’s barrister said at the time of the incident, she was going through the “trauma” of a divorce and had a lot of media attention.

Rebecca said: “She expressed her full remorse as evidenced by the guilty plea and expresses her apologies to the court.

“She takes full responsibility for this.

“At the time of November 2018 she was going through the personal trauma of a divorce that was made that much harder by the constant media interest.

“She describes having paparazzi following her on a daily basis.”

Magistrate James Murray gave Louise, who was not in court for the hearing, a £666 fine and ordered three points be put on her driving licence.

He also said the mother-of-two will have to pay a £66 surcharge and £85 costs.

Louise recently addressed her split from Jamie whilst appearing on The Sara Cox Show on ITV on Sunday.

The singer opened up about “moving on” after having a “tough couple of years”, as she was quizzed on the lyrics in her new music.

Spilling all about writing the lyrics to her tracks, she said: “It felt like such a natural process. I think my heart poured out on a lot of this.”

Sara said: “Loads of people say a little bit of heartbreak comes a long way in their music.”

“I think so,” Louise replied. “I think it’s about how honest you want to be about it.”

She continued: “The album is upbeat, expect a mid tempo, and there’s a couple of sadder songs but it’s lyrically empowering and about celebrating who we are.”

Sara asked: “And you’re in a good place, you’re happy? You’re good?”

Louise, who shares two sons with Jamie, acknowledged it’s been a “tough couple of years”.

The singer admitted: “I’m not gonna lie I think everyone knows I’ve had a tough couple of years but like all of us, that’s what happens and we fight forward and move on.”

Louise and Jamie, who share two sons together, divorced in 2017 following 19 years marriage.
