Kate Middleton: Duchess of Cambridge shocked with this surprising activity on royal tour

Kate Middleton and Prince William visited Canada on a royal tour in 2016 with their two children Prince George, now six, and Princess Charlotte, now four. The pair visited the country five years after they first made the trip across the Atlantic as newlyweds. They enjoyed a great number of activities during their tour around Canada three years ago. These ranged from visiting a Canadian steam train, watching a women’s volleyball match and being treated to a traditional performance by First Nations dancers.

Kate herself did not appear to shy away from the activities and was often seen getting involved.

Both she and William helped to row a 25ft war canoe on their visit to Haida Gwaii, off British Columbia’s west coast, which means “islands of the people”.

She also showed off her sailing prowess when she helped sail tall ship Pacific Grace into Victoria Harbour in British Columbia.

However, there was one activity that the Duchess did in Canada that many people were shocked by.

The undertaking came to light in a documentary called The Queen’s Green Planet.

It showed Kate and William in a forest that had been gifted to the UK as part of the Commonwealth tree plans.

One of the activities the heir to the throne and his wife took part in was fishing in one of the streams.

Of course fishing normally involves wielding a fishing rod – but this wasn’t to be the case for Kate and William.

Instead the parents were encouraged to use their hands to catch a fish in the stream.

Kate stunned audiences when she managed to ensnare one in her palms as she bent down to the water.

When the documentary of the Canada trip aired, many watchers voiced their shock over her skills.

One watcher wrote: “Kate Middleton catching a fish with her bare hands in a safari-looking jacket with a massive rock on her finger is an aesthetic.”

Prince William also managed to catch one with his bare hands just before her as they showed off their fishing skills.

The Duchess of Cambridge may have many talents, but she isn’t perfect at everything, by her own admission.

She once revealed there’s a travel skill that she lacks – and she wants to make sure she children have it.

When greeting a crowd she met someone from Italy and admitted: “My languages are so bad. I have to make sure that my children are better than me, that’s my aim.”

Kate’s admission is particularly interesting given the royal spent three months in Italy during her gap year.
