Melania Trump dresses down in blue and khaki as she arrives in Washington with Donald

Melania Trump kept it low-key as she accompanied her husband US president Donald Trump to Washington yesterday. The First Lady – who is known for her elaborate outfits – kept it simple, wearing a blue shirt, which she tucked into a pair of fitted khaki pants. She teamed the look with a pair of olive green court heels, which accentuated her long legs and. Shading her eyes from the sun, Melania rocked a pair of oversized black and gold rimmed shades. She wore her blonde hair down in a soft wave, with her trademark fringe swept across her forehead.

Keeping her make up natural, Melania opted for a nude lip and bronzed cheeks.

Donald – who held onto Melania’s hand as they walked across the South Lawn of the White House – was dressed formally in a navy suit and striped tie.

The pair were pictured disembarking a flight, as they returned to Washington from a visit to Bedminster, New Jersey.

It comes after the United States mourned for victims of two mass shootings that killed 29 people in less than 24 hours.

The tragic news could explain Melania’s pared back look, with the First Lady keeping her head down as they arrived at the White House.

The week before, Melania was spotted wearing a vibrant emerald dress and killer heels in Washington.

The 49-year-old turned heads in a vibrant green midi dress, which she teamed with sky scraper heels.

The mum-of-one to Barron Trump, 13 – stepper out wearing a stunning emerald green dress and stiletto high heel shoes.

Donald’s wife wore a long-sleeved garment to attend an event at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C.

Posting on Instagram, Melania shared a selection of pictures which showed her clapping in the audience before greeting performers on stage.

Melania is often spotted wearing lovely pieces from her wardrobe and Express.co.uk recently revealed how she spends roughly £3,000 per outfit – £200 more than her stepdaughter Ivanka Trump, 37.

It was recently reported that Melania is forced to buy her outfits online because designers don’t want to collaborate with her.

According to a CNN documentary, the First Lady can’t relish in her passion for fashion as designers disagree with Donald Trump.

CNN’s White House Reporter Kate Bennett noted Melania seems to buy her clothes online.

Fashion critic Robin Givhan explained on CNN’s special report: “With Mrs Obama and even prior with Mrs Bush designers would create looks specifically for that first lady.

“What they were essentially saying (with Melania) is I don’t want to collaborate on a special ensemble for this first lady because they’re not supportive of the administration.

“A lot of that led to her decision to say ‘Okay, fine. I’ll wear what I want to wear and I will leave the designers out of the equation’.”
