Galaxy Watch update: Samsung will reveal its newest wearable today – Here’s what to expect

Galaxy Watch is Samsung’s esteemed wearable series that comes in two forms: the standard Galaxy Watch and the Galaxy Watch Active.

The former released alongside the Note 9 last year and was positioned as a great all-rounder for Android fans.

Galaxy Watch can show owners notifications from their phone and also boasts a wealth of fitness features, too.

Galaxy Watch Active was unwrapped with Samsung’s S10 series earlier this year and was geared towards fitness fanatics.

Today Samsung will reveal the Galaxy Watch Active 2 – a new wearable that is expected to be positioned between the two devices.

Galaxy Watch Active 2 is anticipated to come in a grand total of three models: one that is Bluetooth-only, another that boasts LTE capabilities and another featuring Under Armour branding.

Wareable also declared the hardware will come in 44 millimetre and 40 millimetre case sizes.

Plus, the outlet claimed the product will be capable of performing an electrocardiogram (ECG) for users, too.

However, it was claimed this particular function is still awaiting FDA approval and may therefore not arrive until 2020.

Multiple leaked images of the Galaxy Watch 2 have surfaced ahead of its release courtesy of tipster Evan Blass.

The hardware has been shown looking reminiscent of the current Galaxy Watch Active but with modified buttons on its side.

Although the bezel around the hardware’s display is very similar to its predecessor, it has been tipped if a user moves their finger around the border they will be able to navigate the device’s user interface.

Just like the Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Watch Active, the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is anticipated to run Samsung’s Tizen operating system.

Unfortunately, no rumours surrounding pricing of the device have yet emerged.

However, Samsung is set to reveal all about the device at 3pm today.

It is presumed the device will be revealed in the same manner as the Galaxy Tab S6 last week – meaning a page detailing its functionality is likely to appear on the firm’s site.
